UT Gardens, Knoxville Garden Trip to Nashville

Tuesday - Wednesday, September 14 - 15, 2021

Trip registration is full, but you are welcome to sign up on the waitlist.

Don’t miss this opportunity to join the UT Gardens as we visit the horticultural side of Music City! This overnight trip includes a night's stay in the horticultural gem Opryland Conservatory Hotel, visits to private and public gardens, the world's largest African violet grower, and several special nurseries and garden centers. We will even eat lunch at the famed Loveless Cafe where you can enjoy one of their legendary biscuits.

We will travel to Nashville in a deluxe motor coach departing Knoxville on Tuesday morning, September 14th and returning Wednesday evening, September 15th. Your travel hosts will be James Newburn, Interim Director of the UT Gardens; Holly Jones, UT Staff Horticulturist and Event Coordinator; and Michelle Reimert, Master Gardener and UT Gardens Cultivate magazine travel contributor.

We'll stay in the award-winning Opryland Hotel where your atrium room will have a balcony overlooking one of the conservatories. If you have never visited or stayed in this hotel, this is a wonderful opportunity to experience horticulture in an incredibly unique way. A variety of shops and restaurants are located within the hotel, and its three conservatories are simply perfect for our 'on-your-own' evening. The hotel offers a free Fountain Show each evening at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m in the Delta Conservatory. Each room has a flat-screen TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, and mini-refrigerator. A 'Quick Bite' breakfast (breakfast sandwich, fruit, coffee and juice) is included.

We’ll have two fabulous, non-stop days visiting Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, some choice private gardens; a commercial greenhouse, three distinctive garden centers. You will find more details about our specific stops on our website.

Trip fee is $350 per person for UT Gardens members. Trip fee includes motor coach transportation, bus driver tip, 1-night hotel stay (double occupancy), all admission fees, 1 (one) breakfasts, and 2 (two) lunches. Registration deadline is Wednesday, August 11 OR when number of registrants reaches 49. A single-room supplement is available for those who prefer it for an additional $130. Registrants who are not current members of the UT Gardens will add $35 to the registration fee. This additional fee will be applied to an individual membership for the participant.

PLEASE NOTE: There is a minimum trip occupancy that must be reached for this trip to proceed. No payment will be required until that number is reached. Registrants will be notified, by August 11th at the latest, regarding status, and payment in full will be due at that time. To minimize trip expenses, we will be accepting payment in the form of cash or check only.
